allows you to use your iPod with the steering wheels on your car. Track, playlist and other information is displayed on the instrument cluster display.
This is not suitable for the Audio-50 (black and white navigation system) or the Audio-20 CD/Cassette systems installed in the E/CLS class.
This kit has been tested with, and works great with. the new iPhone. If you want to use the ipod kit with an iphone as both ipod and phone then you will need an HFP bluetooth cradle or the Mercedes iPhone cradle + interconnecting lead also. This will give you full phone and ipod functionality in your car, in the one device.
You should consider purchasing the cradle as-well, it just helps protect your iPod/iPhone in the car.
This is a 'TYPE 1 iPod kit, and thus will not charge the latest nano or iPhone 3G as Apple changed to 5 Volt charging system from the original 12 Volt charging system.
